Cottage Mt. Ichibata is nestled deep in the mountains in the grounds of Ichibata Yakushi Temple in Shimane Prefecture. Known as a sanctuary of healing and place of worship for over 1000 years, the temple stands in the midst of some magnificent scenery looking down on the vastness of Lake Shinji and across to the distant

mountains beyond. Spend a night at the cottage and breathe in the clear mountain air, let the deep greenery soothe your eyes and savour the feeling of inner peace. Your time is yours...enjoy hiking across the mountains to the sea, sightseeing in nearby Izumo and Matsue or relaxing in the quiet temple grounds. Here at Cottage Mt. Ichibata we welcome people from all over the world to experience rural Japan, spiritual Japan, forgotten Japan, unique Japan.

With double-glazing and insulation, these modern style cottages are both cool in the summer and warm in the winter. They have wooden decks commanding superb views across Lake Shinji and the Chugoku mountains. The entrance and bathroom are completely accessible by wheelchair users.
here are 2 cottages, East and West, and both have a wooden deck with table and chairs. *Both cottages are non-smoking, however you may smoke on the deck.	The main pillar is made from old timber from the temple and the floor, ceiling and walls are all made from wood.
Each cottage is equipped with electromagnetic cooking appliances, a microwave, a refrigerator, a toaster, an electric hot water pot, cooking utensils, crockery and a child’s chair.	Natural wood is used in abundance throughout the cottages which combined with the stunning lake views and mountain scenery creates a peaceful environment.
The sink in the bathroom is made from wood of a tree that used to stand in the temple grounds. The toilet area is wide enough to accomodate wheelchairs.	The loft has 2 beds from which you can see out over Lake Shinji and the Chugoku mountain range. There is also a sofa bed on the ground floor.
The nearby arbour can be used as a resting place or for barbeques.	The stairs and loft have handrails and child-guards for your comfort and peace of mind.
The cottages are fitted with modern western style toilets and baths.
Cooking over an open flame is not allowed in the cottages. The cottages are in the grounds of a temple, so please refrain from making noise. *Both the cottages are completely non-smoking.
